ACCEPTANCE INTO THE GUILD
In order to create an atmosphere that perpetuates integrity, maturity, and overall comfort in the guild, some guidelines are in place to help separate hopeful applicants from potential "bad apples".
APPLICANTS MUST BE 18 OR OLDER
This rule is strictly enforced for the most part, however exceptions can be made for children of members so long as it is understood the parents are held accountable to the child's behavior.
APPLICANTS MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH THE GUILD CHARTER
Guild policies are enforced to ensure that a sense of order is held within the guild. Failure to adhere to the guild policies not only reflects poorly upon the member, but also the guild as a whole, and can result in expulsion from Arbiters of Light.
APPLICANTS ARE INVITED ON A TEMPORARY BASIS
New members enter the guild at the rank of Potential, this is a temporary or "initiate" rank. After a short period, generally one week, the member is either removed from the guild or accepted as a full member at the rank of Arbiter. For more information on guild ranks please visit the Guild Hierarchy page.
INACTIVITY
Members must maintain a minimum level of activity in the game and in the forums.
IN-GAME ACTIVITY
In-game activity is determined by logging into the game.
- Operatives* - 14 Days (Demoted)
- Arbiters - 30 Days (Removed)
- Potentials - 14 Days (Removed)
*Operatives that fall below the requirement (14 days) will be demoted to Arbiter, and once they hit 30 days will be removed.
FORUM ACTIVITY
Forum activity is determined by logging into the forums.
Members will receive a notice after 20 days reminding them to login. After 30 days they will receive a second email, after which they will be removed should they not login immediately.
GENERAL BEHAVIOR
These general guidelines explain what is acceptable/unacceptable behavior when using the various channels of communication within the guild. This includes guild chat, guild forums, etc. If you're unsure if a matter is acceptable please discuss it with a member of guild leadership privately.
DISCRIMINATION
Comments or remarks that could be taken negatively in regards to an individual's race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or national origin. The below is considered inappropriate.
- Insults, negative portrayals, prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or national origin.
SPAMMING
Excessively communicating the same phrase, similar phrases, or pure gibberish is annoying and will not be tolerated in any form of guild communication.
FORUM GUIDELINES
Community forums work best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy, so we ask that you take the time to read through the forum guidelines before posting.
GUIDELINES
The following guidelines will help promote a user-friendly environment:
- Do not post in all capital letters, use excessive punctuation, etc.
This practice is used to draw attention to ones post. While everyone wants their posts read, we ask that you refrain from using sensational tactics in order to bring more people to your thread. Let your post stand on its own merit.
- Do not bump posts.
The act of bumping ones post is considered spamming and contributes nothing constructive to the discussion. Your thread will be seen; there is no need to continually bump it to the top of the list.
- Do not hijack topics.
Posting comments within a thread which severely disrupts the original conversation is prohibited. - Petition posts are frowned on.
This is a discussion forum. Petition threads do not contain much discussion; instead, a petition is usually page after page of /signed. This is not constructive. If you have an issue with the guild, please discuss it in a civil and informed fashion.
- Do not post about locked or deleted threads.
Posts that are moderated have a reason behind the moderation. We lock before we post on a locked thread to stop the violation in question as soon as possible, so if you have yet to see a comment by a member of the community team on a locked thread, please wait for it and do not post on the subject. If you have questions regarding forum moderation, please use contact a moderator via PM. - Members shall not post inflammatory content on our forums.
Why have an age limit?
The age requirement is a measure to ensure maturity within the guild. It does not mean all under 18 are immature, it just plays the odds.
Why is there a temporary initate rank?
This allows the guild to further assess the new member, and also to allows the new member to get a feel for the guild.
Why have "politically correct" policies?
The guild is a melting pot of races, religions, etc. and you have no idea what other members may be or believe in. All members have a right to feel comfortable in the guild.
